Just keep swimming...

Yesterday we went to the neighborhood pool. We met up with some of our friends there and we had a good time. Well, Braxton did as long as I wasn't making him get out of the pool. Which, I had to do a couple of times since he is a skinny little boy and turned blue about the time he hit the water. (Yes, indeed, its a heated pool...) Anyway, here are some pics of us in the water. Yesterday marked a big day for Kieran, since it was his first time in a pool!
He didn't much appreciate the dunking he got on the down swing of this...
He had claw marks in my arm after we were done with this...
Hey what about me??????
Warm up session....
Oh, thats better!
Its so much easier to carry them with that whole bouyancy law...
They had a pretty good time I think....
Well, until I said those five dreaded words: "its time to go home". The picture tells the rest of the story.

The big day!

So today marks the opening ceremonies for the '08 summer olympics. A friend of mine sent me an article about them this morning. Here is the link for it. He said he was assuming that I'm in the "as much as possible" camp. He is correct. However much like the author of the article, I hate the human interest stories, I think the politics and scandals take so much away from the athletes who are there to showcase their talent and hardwork. The opening and closing ceremonies are boring. I generally don't watch those. I like to watch the sports. My favorites of the summer games are: swimming, diving, gymnastics, some track and field, beach volley ball, and water polo. As well as being a sports fanatic, I feel that supporting our athletes over there is important. Go USA and all that.

Ok, so maybe there is one human interest story that I'll be tuning into... Go MIKE!!!!

*little known fact - The first time I met Mark he was in a speedo... You could say I have a bit of a soft spot for swimmers. Especially good lookin' ones with whom I've had babies!! Love Ya Babe!*

A day in the life...

My days with the boys are fairly routine. Get up, get fed - feeding my face is alway priority numero uno when I wake up, get dressed, get morning chores done, nap time, then the afternoon is usually when the boys and I do the playing.

Thanks to a great suggestion from my cousin, Lyndsay, (thanks, btw) I took the boys outside, sat B-rox down with a bucket of water and let him "paint" the driveway. With Kieran in the jumparoo, I was free to take care of organizing the garage and attacking one of the ginormous bushes lining our stoop. I cut it in half. It felt great to hack the crap out of it, and it looks much better too!
This was before I straightened up the garage. I promise, it looks much better now.
Aren't his little "gyuvs" cute? He was such a big helper! He helped put all those trimmings in the garbage!

And I hepped!

I spent the day pureeing various fruits and vegetables. I'm going to hide these purees in stuff like pancakes, brownies and chicken nuggets. I'm embarking on a "healthier" Braxton campaign. This is the first step.
Anyway Kieran was my little "hepper" today. By helper I mean I'd put a blob of the goo on his tray and let him smush his hands in it then lick it off. He thought it was great fun 'til I splooshed some zucchini down for him. That was the only flavor he didn't gobble up.

Obviously, it was bathtime after this!

Low Ri-der.

If you haven't figured it out by now, alot of my post titles are song titles. Or lines from movies. Its one of my wierdisms.
Anyway, Pa Hat and Gramma came to visit and brought surprises!
This is Braxton's new bike. He almost reaches the pedals. The best part about it? I do the steering. Great idea right?
Apparently he doesn't like his picture taken when he's gone without a nap.

gotta love that new car taste!

Tax Free Weekend!

(This post is mainly for bob. We've always done post-shop fashion shows of our purchases. Its kinda hard now that we're 3000 miles away from eachother.) This weekend is Virginia's annual tax free weekend. No sales tax on school supply purchases. This includes clothes people!!! I'm not returning to school, but Mark let me take advantage of the great sales that go along with this fabulous event and bought me some new duds.

These are the adorable new shoes I got. Fabulous eh?

Oh, and bob here is a link to the sweater I got.

An Abomination...

... to the shoe world. I love shoes. Adore them, would have their babies etc. etc. Its my addiction. I'm ok with that. I go through a 12 step program every time I put them on. (get it? get it?) However, there is a company out to destroy the civilized shoe world as we know it. Now, if you wear these I'm sorry. 1. For offending you with my next comment 2. And for your apparent lack of taste in footwear. This abomination is Crocs. Its as bad as mini skirts and ugg boots only instead of only infecting college aged coeds this disease spans all people; male, female, old, young - you get the idea. Anyway I read an article in Newsweek today about these shoes. The author of the article shares my opinion on them and the link is featured here. If you don't share my opinion thats ok. You probably shouldn't read it. If you do share my opinion, read it and laugh. Its great! Here is a funny youtube video that parodies this fashion disaster.
