It's the American way.
Apparently America is also enthralled by 3-D everything right now. These glasses were handed out to watch the fireworks in 3-D. I say they wanted everybody to go back to the 70's and pretend they just took a hit of acid. 
And some fireworks. Where I didn't have a stand and couldn't hold my breath that long... Ignore the camera movement and they're kinda cool.
