Faster Mommy, Faster!

Alright, I've almost finished out two weeks of this whole running thing. The weather has been my biggest obstacle. The first two days of running were in a torrential downpour. Then the next day the heat wave hit and until yesterday we were running in 100 degree heat. Major suckfest. Yesterday was a great run though. We found a route that was mostly in the shade and so we kept really cool since it was only 85 deg. outside.
During one of the days of rain I was bent over hugging my knees to stretch my hamstring when a little old lady pulled up and told me to "get my buns inside before my brains are electrocuted out". It was kinda funny. Then she asked why I was hugging my knees and I had to tell her because my mom lived too far away. She didn't get the joke though... Owell, she's old.
Braxton is a big source of motivation to keep running since when we slow down to walk/take a drink of water he gets angry and yells "faster mommy, faster" or "mommy, you need to go superfast now".

Well, as long as the training keeps going swimmingly (I really like saying that) I have a couple of events planned starting in a few months. Woo.

Happy Anniversary To US!!!!

Tomorrow is Mark and my third anniversary. This year he's even going to actually be home for it! That is the first time we've been together on June 9th since 2005. (Even then he left four days after our wedding to go to an internship...) So this year is a pretty big deal for us. Our annual tradition is to go to a baseball game. This year we went to a high A team, The Potomac Nationals, whos home stadium is only about seven miles from our house.
The weather was absolutely awful. (I'll bet you thought I was going to say beautiful!) It was 98 degrees outside, and with the humidity that swamps the east coast every summer it felt about 110. It was still a fun time. Who wouldn't have fun when you can purchase box seats with waitstaff for 11 bucks? This year we were also joined by our good friends Mike, Amy, their son Brendan, and another good friend Jake. Party - WOot!
Anyway, here are some pics from the game.
I love the look on this guys face. Almost as good as the face Fetters gives right before he throws the ball. (Fetters is, or at least was a pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks....)
Kieran, in his brand new Uncle Slam hat. (We're awful parents and forgot to bring his safari sun hat thing...) His cheeks aren't red from the reflection of the hat just FYI.
Yup, thats sweat that is making his hair all wet. It was batting helmet day at the stadium. So the nice lady in front of us gave us hers since we weren't in the first thousand people there. Thanks lady that wasn't rooting for the home team!
Braxton and Uncle Slam. The team mascot. Everybody gets it right?????? Braxton was only ok with U.S. if he was sitting down. As soon as he stood up he freaked out.
That would be our whole motley crew. It was a good day. After we left the four-thousand degree heat, we went back to our place and had spaghetti and angel food cake and strawberries. These have been a good three years. I look forward to all the years to come with you Mark. You're a wonderful husband and a fabulous father. I thank God everyday you've come into my life.

A little off color...

Ok, I know this is probably not exactly family appropriate to post here, but it was too funny not to.

Braxton is still in diapers, but becoming more aware of his "functions" everyday. This morning We were doing the showering routine, and Braxton was in the closet with me as I was getting dressed. He started doing the "wedgie dance" as I call it. He did a couple of grunts and at this point I know he's pooping. Well after he passed it he says "wow, that was a big football poop". I wasn't quite sure what to say to my son after he told me he had a football bowel movement...

Old MacDonald had a What?!!?

Braxton loves to read and sing. One of his favorite songs is "Old Macdonald". However its been a very long time since that farmer had anything resembling a farm animal. Take this afternoon for instance. Old Macdonald had some grass, an octopus, some knees, some feet, a big fish, some glue, and some clouds. Does anybody know what kind of sound any of those make? The only one I knew was the big fish. I was totally at a loss for glue, knees and an octopus. I'm not quite sure where he gets this stuff.

Insanity.

Well, Today marks a very important day. Today I being training to run a half-marathon. It's something that has always niggled in my brain. "Hey, you're an athletic person, don't you wanna see if you can do something like this????" My longterm goal (as if a twenty week training program wasn't long term enough...) is to do the See Nike Run Marathon in San Fransisco. Its an all womens event, and at the end you are greeted by firemen in tuxedos and they give you a Tiffany's necklace. Waaay cooler than a t-shirt. (For those who are wondering, Mark is the one that suggested I take part in this particular race. I just figured I'd do the Marine Corp Marathon...) Anyway, I'm starting out with just a half marathon. Don't want my eyes to get bigger than my stomach so to speak. Ok, I'm telling you this because I figure if I tell everybody I know I won't quit this thing. I'm also going to post weekly updates on how awful (I have no notions that this will be an awesome process) it all feels. Anyway, I'm going to show you a picture of our really cool new jogging stroller. What makes it so cool you ask???? Well instead of being long, or wide its a double decker. Plus, its neon green. Ok, wish me luck.
That is my very cool new stroller. The boys love it. I love it. Mark kinda loves it. (he hasn't spent the quality time with it that I have). I can steer this thing with one hand, and drink my iced tea in the other. How cool is that?

Toothpaste and Silver

I'm not sure how many people know this, but I think its worth posting. Anyway did you know you can polish fine metals with toothpaste? Brass, silver and gold can all be taken from a tarnished state into nice gleaming prettiness. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but its come in handy since I have a few silver pieces and then a butt ton and a half of jewelry that I rarely wear, so when I want to it needs to be polished. Plus, if you use toothpaste it comes out smelling minty fresh. Something you don't get with actual polish. Alright. I've now done my part to be green. Woo.

These boys...

Ok, here are a few videos I took of the boys this evening, that really showcase their... cuteness we'll say.

The Lipsucking thing is new. I'm not sure what to think of it other than I have two odd children. Its pretty cute though eh?

Today we bought Braxton "monster bowling" The pins are all odd little monster guys. Braxton really hasn't gotten the hang of the whole bowling idea so Mark invented a new game. "Braxton Bowling". The craziness of my boys...
